[ACSians] Making a clean breast of it

First, my apologies to those of you being spammed, and especially to those kena spammed more than once because you are in more than one makan group.

Auntie Kiasu here got collared by a survey worker while she was at Clementi Polyclinic. The survey auntie had me signed up for a mammogram before I could say "Ouch, that's my tetek you're squeezing!"

So next Thursday morning, I get to have my mammies grammed for the third time - that is, the radiographer will do her darndest to turn my poor char siew paus into prata.

No lah, I don't need handholding. Trust me, you really don't want to be within earshot of the most foul language you'll ever hear me utter (or should I say "udder"?).

But I do need you to get other women to go for breast screening.

Seriously, I count nearly 20 breast cancer survivors so far among the women I know. And they are only the ones I know of. Four of my friends are under treatment for breast cancer. Several more have not made it through. One lost the battle only months ago. With one friend now in the last stages of the battle - she's hoping for a miracle - it's time I gave more than lip service to getting other women tested.

I'm told that there are less painful methods now to get one's breasts checked out. But I know that if I skip Thursday's appointment, it will be another few years before another survey auntie - or worse - catches up with me.

So I am asking you, please, to pass this message on to the women in your life. Nag the over-40s and browbeat the over-50s to get tested.
