How to track new entries and comments?

So, the blog is interesting, but how do I know when there are new entries, or new comments to existing entries? I don't want to keep going to the blog to find out, and try to check for comments is a pain.

So glad you asked! On the right hand side of the page there is a heading "Subscribe to". You can select to receive new content either new posts or new comments in the comfort of your home page, "favorites" in your browser, or by email. If you need detailed instructions on how to do this, please leave a message stating that in he comments section of this post, and if there is sufficient interest, a step by step procedure will be prepared and posted on this blog.

How to Find an entry you once read

After you visit this delightful blog, and read something interesting, but cannot remember on which page and when, how do you relive that moment without having to go through every page of the blog?

On the right hand column, you will find it possible to track specific blog entries by date, and by topic (label), but only to the accuracy of proper categorization. If these fail, there is always the ability to run a search over this blog and related information.

The Acsian-Nostalgia Custom Search Engine is a smaller version of the great big search engine you are used to and love. Pressing the Search button searches for the term or keyword in a limited number of related sites, this blog, and sites to which this blog links. So instead of the abundance of riches of 2 million hits on what you are looking for, you will need to look through a smaller list of items.

How to Add New Entries

Only authors of this blog may post new entries.

To become an author of this blog, you need to accept an invitation to become one.
Invitations will be provided on receipt of (a) a stack of unmarked bills, preferably in large deonminations, in Sing $ or US greenbacks, or (b) upon request with your email address. You will then need to accept the invitation, and then you can become an author. In either case, if you want to be discrete about it, you may make a comment on the comment link at the bottom of this message and in the body of the comment either asked for the unnumbered Swiss Bank account number or provide your email address - please put a "DO NOT PUBLISH" as the title of your comment. :-)

But you need to hurry to get in on this once in a lifetime opportunity; invitations are going out fast and once the quota for number of authors is filled you can get in on it only if someone else leaves.

Authors can add new entries, and modify their old messages or delete them, and can also allow/reject comments to their posts. They may not change the post or comment of someone else.

How to contact Blog Owner

contact email addresses are not provided on this blog to prevent them from being screen scraped and used for spam purposes. To contact the Blog Owner, you can send a comment and put in your contact information an put a "DO NOT PUBLISH" at the beginning. That way the blog owner will be able to get your message without you publicly posting your contact information.

How to add comments to this blog

It would be nice to know if you are visiting from around the world if you leave your mark. However, the problem with most open guest books is that they are quickly filled by spambots telling you where to get insurance, mail order brides, body part and performance enhancing pharmaceutical ... which though interesting to our cohorts, pretty much drown out the comments of our friends and well-wishers.

Any legitimate comments to posts or to comments will be published after being moderated. When you click on the comments link at the end of an entry, you are taken to a screen where you can make a comment and then choose how and if you choose to reveal your identity or pen name.

If you have a Google Account (which is based on a valid email address, not necessarily a GMail address) you can associate a pen name with that account for this blog. Each time you use that Google Account, your pen name will show up, and optionally, you can display your profile. Your email address itself will not show up if you choose.

Another way is to use OPEN ID which won't be discussed further here

A third way is to just put in your name or pen name which will appear as entered with no additional information required.

The fourth way is to call yourself the famous prolific writer called "Anonymous".

All of these require that you recognize a string of distorted characters or numbers from an image - the idea is that computers will find it more difficult to recognize these than a human being. However, sometimes it is so difficult to interpret that it may b easier to write a program to check it out for you....

Additional information added Aug 2. The word recognition exercise has been temporarily suspened because some visitors could not get the image to show up. For now, you can post without showing you are not a machine

About this Blog

The dates and times are in Singapore Time, and may appear strange if in some other country. The reason is unproven unverified hypothesis that the center of mass of cohorts is in Singapore.

It was pointed out that it was not clear who started this blog, and which year it is for. acsian-blogger is pen name of Shahid who originated this blog together with the related website, and some postings are done using that name, especially if they were posted on behalf of someone else.

This site is dedicated to the 1966 Sec 4 cohort and the 1968 PUII cohort of ACS Barker Road. At the time we were there, there was only the Coleman St school and the Barker Road school; Independent School and ACJC all came later.

Blogs and webs are a different way of communicating than the way we used to communicate by letter and words, and is a great way of distributing information.

The name acsian-nostalgia.blogspot.com was chosen because it seemed most appropriate for the posts initially started off with. Depending on the content and who posts, renaming the blog to more accurately reflect the postings is a perfectly valid option.

New Acsian-Nostalgia Blog

From July 22, 2008 through August 8, 2008 (Singapore time) new blog entries are scheduled to be added daily. The blog entries are to immortalize Nostalgia comments provided and sent to William Meyer by past ACSians (particularly the 1966 Sec 4 cohort and the 1968 PU II cohorts), and presented here by individual contribution. Names of contributors were removed at the request of some of the contributers, but from the headings you may be able to guess who wrote them. If you do recognize your contribution and would like to use a pen name for future contributions, please feel free to do so.

It is presented in sequential order from the compilation provided by Wiliam, and other than having the names and headers removed, in most cases entries survive intact with the original spellings, mispellings and grammer (or lack of). William is proud of this collection, and humbly admits that he has contributed but a small number of entries.

Dates of past contributions are not available, but future contributions will be marked with the posting date and time.

You may add new comments, debate existing comments, or request deletions.
